Indian Clay Pot with Adenium (Desert Rose)
The Adenium, commonly known as the Desert Rose, is a striking tropical succulent native to the arid regions of East Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. Known for its sculptural trunk, glossy green leaves, and brilliant trumpet-shaped blooms in shades of pink, red, or white, this plant is as much a work of art as it is a houseplant.
The Desert Rose thrives in warm, sunny climates and prefers well-draining soil—mimicking the dry, rocky environments of its native habitat. It loves full sun and performs best in temperatures between 70–100°F (21–37°C). In cooler climates, it should be kept indoors or brought inside during the winter months, as it is sensitive to cold and frost.
This unique plant stores water in its swollen trunk, or caudex, allowing it to withstand long dry periods. With proper care, the Desert Rose rewards you with spectacular blooms throughout the warmer months and can live for decades, often developing into a beautifully gnarled bonsai-like form over time.
Care Tips: Place in bright, direct sunlight for best flowering.
Water sparingly—allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Fertilize lightly during the growing season for optimal growth and blooms. Beautiful, resilient, and full of character, the Adenium Desert Rose brings a touch of desert elegance to any home or garden.
